Snow begins in PA; forecast snow totals stay consistent for viewing area

The leading northern edge of the winter storm entered south-central Pennsylvania Friday afternoon. For example, snow began falling at 3 o'clock in the Johnstown area.

Severe Weather Team 6 meteorologists said the forecast snow totals from Thursday did not change much in Friday's models.

Winter storm warnings remained in effect for Cambria, Blair, Huntingdon, Bedford and Somerset Counties through Saturday.

Meteorologists said towns like Johnstown and Altoona are still projected to get 6-inches of snow. Somerset and Bedford are expected to get 12-inches or more along the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

One feature about the storm is how quickly snow totals drop the farther north you travel in the viewing area. State College remained in the 3 to 5-inch range while DuBois may only get an inch of snow.
