Lady Lions name next head coach

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State and Vice President of Athletics Sandy Barbour have selected Carolyn Kieger as the sixth head coach of the women’s basketball program. Keiger (pronounced KEE-ger), a 2019 Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Award semifinalist, guided Marquette University to the top of the Big East Conference and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances as the Golden Eagles’ head coach. Woodward Camp announces closure of gymnastics, cheerleading programs

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Woodward Camps announced Thursday that it has made the "difficult decision" to "discontinue" its gymnastics and cheerleading programs at all of its camp locations. The camp has offered gymnastics training for much of its 52-year history. Steelers reportedly plan to trade for veteran WR Allen Robinson

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly plan to finalize a trade for veteran wide-receiver Allen Robinson. Reports indicate that the Steelers will be bringing Robinson in for a physical, and if he passes, the trade is expected to be completed. Unidentified man kicks dog on camera in Lancaster

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Officials in Lancaster County are asking the public for help identifying a man caught abusing an animal on camera. The Lancaster City Bureau of Police say an incident of animal abuse occurred on Dec. 17 on the 600 block of Marietta Avenue. According to a press release, a citizen from the area showed police a video they'd taken where a man in a red jacket, a red hat and black pants is walking a small white dog. [Read More]

University 'deeply sorry' for mispronouncing students' names at graduation: 'Unfortunate'

PHILADELPHIA (TND) — Thomas Jefferson University apologized Friday for mispronouncing nursing graduates' names during its commencement ceremony. The speaker at the Jefferson College of Nursing incorrectly pronounced several names, including “Thomas,” “Sarah,” “Molly” and “Elizabeth,” as graduates walked across the stage on Thursday. 'Rooted in Color' is an art exhibit tackling discrimination

JOHNSTOWN - As Black History Month comes to an end, one local artist is using her creativity to spark up a conversation about discrimination. Ashley A. Jones, a master's degree student at IUP, says the idea for her exhibit “Rooted in Color” came after dealing with discrimination herself, and she knew she wasn’t alone. “I wanted to see something that talked about black women and that talked about the issues within the community, and hair and all these different issues of trying to be a black woman and these standards of beauty that doesn't exist,” Jones says.
