Pittsburgh (WJAC) — Veteran outfielder and fan favorite Andrew McCutchen is reportedly returning to the Pittsburgh Pirates for the 2024 season.
According to Pirates' beat writer Jason Mackey, McCutchen is planning to return to the Bucs on a one-year, $5 million deal.
The 37-year-old former MVP signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh last season after spending time with San Francisco, the Yankees, Philadelphia and Milwaukee.
His future was left uncertain last season after partially tearing his Achilles in September.

Former DuBois city manager, fellow city employee federally indicted on theft of funds
Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Federal authorities announced Thursday that former DuBois city manager John "Herm" Suplizio, as well as a fellow city employee, have been indicted following an investigation into allegations that the two conspired to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars in city funds.
Investigators allege that from 2014 to 2022, Suplizio and 58-year-old Roberta Shaffer, who served as the city's secretary, conspired to "divert" city funds by using the city's tax identification number to create secret, personal bank accounts where the funds were deposited.

Operation Ice Storm: A year-long investigation
DuBOIS -- Police are calling a drug sweep that took place early Thursday morning "Operation Ice Storm."
Police and the district attorney said they want drug dealers off the street.
"We like to do it typically in the morning when probably these birds are home in bed and asleep so we have a high probability of obtaining custody of them," Clearfield County District Attorney Bill Shaw said.
Warrants were released for 33 people and 27 of them were charged Thursday morning.

Two women charged for string of thefts from Ulta Beauty stores in Pa, other states
ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — Police say two Maryland women have been charged for their involvement in a string of retail thefts from Ulta Beauty stores in Pennsylvania and surrounding states, according to a press release.
Logan Township police say on Feb. 20, officers were dispatched to the Ulta store in Altoona for a reported retail theft in which two black females threatened the employees with mace while they stole items from the store.

DEP Confirms Johnsonburg Water Has No Contamination
Elk County, PA — Eric Poague, chairman of the Johnsonburg Municipal Authority told 6News that Johnsonburg does not have issues with water contamination. The Department of Environmental Protection also told 6News that there is no reason for residents to be in fear of contamination.
According to Poague, the municipal authority has never been fined by the Environmental Protection Agency for contaminated water.
