HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — In downtown Hendersonville, Charlotte the stingray has gained international fame due to what is believed to be her parthenogenesis-induced pregnancy.
Parthenogenesis is a form of reproduction where an egg develops without being fertilized by sperm.

1st Summit Bank buys naming rights to War Memorial at $720K for 10 years
JOHNSTOWN - 1st Summit Bank has bought the naming rights to the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown.
The deal, announced Tuesday morning, is for $720,000 over 10 years.
The 67-year-old building will be known as 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial.
The new logo will be on the ice and the signs outside the arena before the Johnstown Tomahawks’ home opener in mid-October.
One big concern from veterans’ groups was that the words “War Memorial” stay in the name somehow.

2 Blair County men indicted on child porngraphy charges by federal grand jury
JOHNSTOWN - Two Blair County men were indicted Tuesday on child pornography charges by a federal grand jury in separate cases.
Kenneth Scott Boyd, 33, and Trenton Stehley, 19, both of Altoona, knowingly possessed videos and images in computer graphic files that were produced with minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, according to court documents.
The files were shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce, officials said.

Community gathers for annual Johnstown Halloween parade
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The Johnstown Halloween parade filled the streets of downtown Tuesday night.
Community groups came together to put on the annual tradition, including the Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership and the Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The parade route followed the traditional path: Starting at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point and traveling down Main Street.
Hundreds of community members stood along the sidewalks watching the festivities take place.

Johnstown rink will have new use
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP— An ice rink that has been closed for a year will soon have a new use: working on airplane parts for Lockheed Martin.
Lockheed announced in March that a plant in Johnstown will be preparing aircraft surface panels for F-35 fighter jets.
That work is set to be done at the old Planet Ice building in Richland Township, but only after the company completes a slew of upgrades at the building.
