NJ man sentenced up to 2 years in jail for assaulting fellow Penn State student

A New Jersey man who was originally charged with raping a fellow student at Penn State has been sentenced in the case.

Jacob Tillman appeared in Centre County court on Thursday where he was sentenced to serve 11.5 to 23.5 months in the Centre County Correctional Facility.

Tillman was charged last year following an investigation into the alleged assault of a Penn State student inside her dorm room.

According to the affidavit, police say the victim reported that the alleged assault had occurred last April after she and a group of friends had met with Tillman at the Lion's Den in downtown State College.

Police say when they interviewed Tillman about the accusation, he reportedly admitted to assaulting her despite having little to no recollection of the night of the incident.

Tillman previously pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful restraint and the rape charge was dropped.
