LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has pleaded no contest to a lesser charge in connection with his involvement in a fight in Las Vegas last year.
Court records show the NFL player entered the plea Tuesday, and Kamara's attorneys confirmed the development.
"Alvin is pleased that this matter is behind him and looks forward to a successful NFL season," the attorneys said in a statement provided to News 3.
ESPN reported that Kamara pleaded down to a misdemeanor charge of breach of peace, and will have to perform 30 hours of community service and pay the alleged victim, Darnell Greene Jr., $105,000 for his medical bills.
He was originally indicted on charges of battery and conspiracy to commit battery.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrested Kamara and three others after the incident outside Drai's at The Cromwell in February 2022.
Kamara, Chris Lammons, Percy Harris and Darrin Young were charged with battery and conspiracy to commit battery. Lammons was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs at the time of the incident.
According to LVMPD's arrest report, Greene alleged he tried to get into an elevator along with a group when another man pushed him and a group of four people began to attack him. Police said he suffered an orbital fracture on his right eye that might need surgery.
Kamara was in Las Vegas for that weekend's NFL Pro Bowl Game and was taken into custody shortly after appearing in the contest at Allegiant Stadium.
He played for the Saints this past season without receiving any league discipline. It's unclear if the NFL plans to punish him following his no-contest plea.
