Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Federal authorities say a Cambria County woman has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud.
Prosecutors allege that Florentina Mayko defrauded Medicare and the Department of Health and Human Services by submitting “unnecessary” urine tests, from opioid patients, while working at a medical clinic.
Investigators say Mayko then billed Medicare for over $10 million for those tests.
Officials say Mayko was also ordered to pay nearly $1.5 million in restitution in the case.
