2 found dead in Gallitzin home, investigation underway, officials say

UPDATE: The bodies of two people found dead Monday in Gallitzin Borough have been identified.

Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees says Brett Fowler and Brianna Knopp died of a drug overdose.

Lees says there are 12 confirmed overdoses this year in Cambria County and five pending toxicology results.

He says the average age for overdoses this year in Cambria County is 41 years old.

UPDATE: Police were at a scene Monday morning at a home on Wilson Street in Gallitzin after receiving a call about two bodies inside the home.

Coroner Jeff Lees says the bodies were of a woman and a man in their early 20s.

Lees says they were found on the second floor of the home.

He says the bodies have been identified, but they are waiting to notify the family before releasing it to the public.

District Attorney Kelly Callihan says they have reason to believe drugs played a role in the pair's death.

Callihan says they found drug paraphernalia at the scene, but officials say they're waiting on the autopsy to confirm it.
